(TTSD) Scales Project

Installation of above ground scale for inbound traffic.

New Paint

Value engineering for installation of at-grade scale with footings instead of a pit scale due to a portion of the proposed scale being located over an existing landfill and HDPE liner. Acumen’s scope of work consisted of re-grading the scales area for the installation of the at-grade scale and re-grading around the scales office to provide pedestrian access to the scale office for TTSD personnel, while discouraging drivers from exiting their vehicles. The at-grade scale was located to minimize impact to the existing landfill and HDPE liner and avoid existing utilities as necessary.

Acumen coordinated with Q&D to determine pothole locations for the utilities and the HDPE liner as well as pavement thickness and to obtain subgrade samples. Acumen utilized the subgrade samples to determine the suitability of the subgrade at the footing locations. Due to the 14” depth of the HDPE liner in one location, one footing was redesigned as an at-grade slab to avoid disturbing the HDPE liner. The design was coordinated with Q&D and TTSD prior to submittal to Placer County for approval. Acumen also attended weekly on-site meetings, coordinated with Q&D and TTSD personnel, approved submittals, and ensured the construction met design standards.
